ALL ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO MARIA CLARA!

(a National Situation)

Filipino woman citizens before days used to be more covered, conservative and seem to be more sensitive. They only stay at home and do sewing, cooking and cleaning the house. They just have to go outside when necessary. They tend to be more polite, respectful and silent. They used to be also shy and courteous in so many ways. They were practiced to do praying every day, pray the rosary and go to the church every Sunday. They were basically a religious people, good and kind-hearted individual.

But, try to glance Filipino woman today. What I had been mentioned above seems to be opposites as to what they were nowadays. They were not anymore covered but they preferably used revealing outfits. They’re not anymore conservatives but a person who seems to be more open and insensitive to many things. Especially sexually related matters. They basically went outside partying and mingling with friends instead of staying and do productive things at home. They never seem to be good in so such ways. They more engage in fights and troubles at the streets. They much even don’t recognize the value of respecting others especially old citizens. They seem to laugh and tease every time they see beggars begging at the frontlines. In schools, for some college and high school beings, they seem to show undesirable traits to their teachers and even perform poor performances on their grades. They never seem to show any desire, will or interests on their studies. They tend to have fighting conversations with their parents when it comes on their classes, moneys they wanted to get from them and most of all - about curfews. Tend to go to bars and party with other friends. Engaging in alcoholic activities and even huffing or using prohibited drugs. Much worst, early engagement unto “PRE-MARITAL SEX”.

Sad but it is definitely true that as early as 15 or 16 years old, teenagers had already done their first sex experience or let’s say, losing their virginities. Perhaps, 3^rd year or 4^th year students had done such. Due of to their young minds, curiosity about sexual things and early engagement into boy and girl relationships, leads them to do the sacred thing. Worst to this, due to their aggressiveness, leads them unto early and unwanted pregnancies.

Many Filipina college students nowadays due to lack of financial supports, chooses to rely unto old wealthy individuals (basically sugar daddies’), who is married and a family person (which is worst) just to satisfy their needs in schools and personal wants in life. Imagine how these young Filipina had done for the sake of earning a degree at college who puts their morals at risk.

Mr. Webster defines Filipina as – the prostitute. Why? The influence of the internet or the technologies perhaps is the reason why we defined as such. It is indeed a truth that most Filipinas shows sensitive and hidden parts of their body to their foreign chat mates for the sake of money. They even, thru this doing, marry their chat mates then live and raise family abroad which has been considers a good thing for them. But what was really the sad thing about it was that just because of money necessity; they’ve been able to choose to do the worst one.

When I was still in Cebu last 2006, it was really an experience for me to witness a “bugawan” – a form of a negotiation wherein the primary negotiator, the bugaw finds their prostitutes a customers. It really shocks me every time I saw this bugaws run after taxi’s and cars that passes thru Junquera Avenue just to find customers for their ladies. If you could only see them doing it every night till morning, you can never say something not good to them though they’ve done something wrong but you could feel this kind of despair how unlucky this people are.

When the customers already arrived, basically they never get out of the car or the taxi but he has just simply stare in front where he could see the bugaw arranging and informing her ladies to be look good. The ladies on the same hand poses in front, trying to impress the customers while the front light of the car lighted unto them. And when the customer chooses already her lady for the night, the girl then entered and ride to the car with the customer. Just imagine how very sad it is for some young Filipina that instead of using their times at school studying or even doing something productive had done something terrible. They tend to sleep at the morning after their shifts and during 7:00 in the evening, begin to wear their make-ups and customizing themselves. They’ve done it every night. All at the same routine.

To sum all it up, the very reason why these things evolve was all about poverty which has been the Philippines has struggling. We cannot deny the very fact that most of us Filipinos nowadays tend to do something just to satisfy our hungry stomachs. That all of us need better, respective and decent jobs in order for us to live normally. All of us deserves and needed to be benefited by the government to make our life stable and quiet.

Behind all these things, though the fact that the Filipinas evolve in such a way we really didn’t like, we still need to respect them and treat them right in the eyes of the constitution and on the eyes of God. We may never change them for what they really are today but we can make them feel that they were also part of this society by treating them right, by not judging them for what they’ve done and for respecting them as also humans.

What was really about the problem about all this things? Do we need to blame the parents of these individuals for letting their daughters done this? Can we blame the internet or the technology on poisoning the minds of these people? Or the government which has been the reason of poverty? Whatever may the answer is, things can’t change realities.
